Responsibilities
- Independently handle assigned preparation tasks within the kitchen section under guidance of senior chefs.
- Prepare and cook basic menu items or components according to standard recipes and quality standards.
- Ensure correct portioning, presentation, and consistency of assigned dishes.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of workstations before, during, and after service.
- Strictly follow HACCP, food safety, and hygiene regulations at all times.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and stock rotation (FIFO) of food items within the section.
- Assist in monitoring food quality, freshness, and waste control.
- Support smooth kitchen operations during service, banquets, and peak periods.
- Coordinate effectively with Commis II, Stewards, and Demi Chefs to ensure efficient workflow.
- Report equipment issues, food quality concerns, or safety hazards to senior kitchen staff.
- Participate actively in on-the-job training and skill development programs.
- Demonstrate professionalism, discipline, and commitment to culinary excellence.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience in a professional kitchen as Commis II or equivalent.
- Culinary education or formal kitchen training preferred.
- Previous experience in a 5★ hotel or high-end restaurant is an advantage.
- Solid understanding of basic cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Knowledge of international food hygiene and safety standards.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and follow kitchen hierarchy.
- Strong time-management and teamwork skills.
- Physically fit and able to work long hours in a fast-paced environment.
- English - at least Intermediate level.
