OVERVIEW

The Cloud Engineer (CE) is responsible for bringing and spreading the knowledge, ideas, and hands-on implementation skills needed to deliver and run software services. The CE delivers complex enterprise systems using open source and lightweight design, helping customers to adopt DevOps and Cloud methodologies, while remaining customer-focused and incorporating agile strategies.

This position will report to the CTO for technical matters, proposals, etc. and to the Project Manager assigned to the project the EE is assigned to.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Technical Knowledge and Experience

Specific experience of 2 — 4 years in at least one item of each of the following areas:

  • Linux system administration.
  • Experience with 2 or more programming languages.
  • Experience with AWS, GCP and/or Azure.
  • Automation tools: Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation.
  • Containers and Container orchestration (Kubernetes).

Abilities

  • Ability to work with rudimentary requirements and specifications.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Advanced ability to read and write English.
  • Moderate ability to speak English.

Behaviors

  • Work with verbal and written English instructions of varying levels of detail.
  • Ability to take directions from Team Lead and Architect.
  • Self-directed learner with the ability to address doubts and concerns with the right person when it exceeds his/her capabilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Cloud Engineers are responsible for ensuring that the team and client have a clear understanding of the operational requirements, and take a shared responsibility for designing and implementing infrastructure for delivering and running software services. This includes hands-on involvement with building deployment and testing pipelines, automated provisioning of cloud infrastructure, and infrastructure support services such as monitoring. Watching out for performance bottlenecks and scaling pitfalls are all within the realm of an Infrastructure Developer.

  • Participate in infrastructure code development and testing (manual and automated) (60%).
  • Provide L1 and L2 support related to Cloud Infrastructure, pipelines and developer assistance (20%)
  • Participate in architecture discussions and design (10% of time)
  • Provide technical leadership by actively mentoring Junior and Semi-Sr. engineers (10% of time)
